Ruby June was recently added to our family which has brought on several moments. The day she was born, Anabelle wouldn't even hardly come near me in that hospital bed. She finally gave me a hug and a kiss right before I had Ruby. That night as she went home with my mom, she was told that she would come back tomorrow and take me and Ruby home. Her response? No, I just want to take my mama home. The next day she came in ready to see me and hold little Ruby, thankfully. Still unsure of her, but loved holding a baby.
Ruby is now three and a half weeks old, and Anabelle has just now started calling her by her name. We first got home and she was baby. Then she went through all the other babies she knows right now. She called her Livia, Lila Mae, and baby Karis sometimes. One day she even called her "that". She told me to give that to Daddy and come with her. :) Now when we tell people that story, she tells them that Daddy told her Ruby June is not a that. She is Ruby June. Such a smart girl.
Speaking of smart. Her favorite thing to do these days, is to tell me how things actually are. She will ask what something is, say an animal. And when I tell her which animal it is, she will say, "It's actually a (fill in the blank)". She loves to tell me what they actually are, and what they are like. For example, and a remote control is like a phone. Or a kitty cat may be like a lion. She's very funny.
One of my favorite things to hear these days is her singing. She sings all the time. She sings with her shows, to her babies, in the car, and in church. Even if she doesn't know the song, she tries to make it up. I love hearing her putting her baby dolls to sleep by singing Jesus loves you and say a prayer to them. Her prayer is "Thank you for God, Amen." She knows every word to Jesus loves me and to Dreamin (the song her daddy sings to her at night). The other day I looked in the rear view mirror and she was singing along with my music in the car. They repeat the phrase "There's nothing we want more" over and over in the song. Well, she had picked up on it, and was singing along with it. She does the same thing in church. She will pick up on words in the songs and hum the whole time until the words she knows come back in the song.
These stories only scratch the surface of what my child does. These are more of the precious moments in life. Next will be some funnies. And do I have some funnies. Not sure if I mentioned how mischievous my child is also. Well, she is a very active and curious child. I have some great stories coming. I love you, Anabelle Grace, and cannot ask for a better first born child. You are a blessing.
