Funny Girl

I have a few funny stories to tell. These all happened this week. First one was Sunday. I was getting ready for church and Anabelle was watching me as I put on my makeup. I'm not sure what prompted this question, but she pushed on my chest and said, "What's that mama?" "Is that your food in your tummy?" Not really understanding what she said, I asked her to repeat it. Again she said, "Is that your food in your tummy for Ruby June?" I guess she has caught on to me feeding Ruby. :) Later that day, I was outside laying out in my chair and reading a book. She came up to me with a flower, and told me to hold it. Then she looked at me and said, "No, just put it in your baby sister." Laughing, I said, "What?" She pointed at my belly button and said, "Put it in your baby sister!" Somehow she knows that she has a belly button, but mine is my baby sister. :) Apparently she missed the memo that baby sister was inside and is no longer there. The last story happened today. Anabelle loves taking showers with me. She loves how the water tickles her back. She giggles practically the whole time that she is in the water. Well, we were talking and she wanted some of my body wash. Its the kind with the micro beads or scrubbing stuff, either way, it makes your skin rough at first. Well, she rubbed it on her legs, and said, "Look, mama, I'm scratchy like you now." She always comes up to me to see if I'm "scratcy". She recently tested whether or not I needed a shower by how scratchy I my legs were. I told her I needed a shower, and she said, "Let me see." As she rubbed my leg, she said, "Yep, you're scratchy. You do need a shower." I just don't know where she comes up with this stuff. I love her so much, and daily get a kick out of the things she says. Hopefully one day, we will laugh together at how funny she was as a little girl.

Oh Anabelle!

So, I have been quite busy with my TWO girls. Ruby June is a doll, and Anabelle is a handful. She has learned that when I'm feeding Ruby, I'm pretty much immobile. That's her cue! I didn't really ever child proof my house as far as putting locks on doors and drawers until now. I have found her with many different items and in many different things.

Her favorite thing to do is go crawl into one of Ruby's many beds. We have a bassinet, cradle, and crib for Ruby right now, and Anabelle thinks they are all for her. She gets in them and hides. She barely answers when I call for her. Then, she will tell me that she wants to take a nap in Ruby's bed. Of course, she is about break the cradle and bassinet! Funny thing is that once she's in, she doesn't know how to get out. :)

Boy is she a climber, though. She can get herself onto/into anything she wants. I have found her standing on top of her high chair tray, on top of the bar, on her toy kitchen, and on top of the counters without me knowing it! She's fast! I'm not just ignoring her. I will turn around and two seconds later, she is on top of something. I can't keep up most of the time!! :)

One of her latest shinanigans (SP?) happened at my sister's house. We were there practicing some songs we were going to sing at my in-law's church. The kids were all happily playing in Hannah's room. I had one of my nephews check on her every so often to make sure that she wasn't into anything. We had just checked on them like 5-10 minutes before, when my youngest nephew walks into the room, SOAKED from head to toe. I'm not kidding. He was drenched. We ran through the house trying to figure out how it happened, when we finally got to the master bath. And there was Anabelle, standing completely naked in this huge bathtub FULL of freezing cold water. Did you hear me say that about 5-10 minutes before this, she was playing happily in Hannah's closet of toys? In that amount of time, she had undressed turned the water on, plugged the drain, and completely soak her cousin. It was crazy, and I was so thankful that she had only turned on the cold water.

Lately we have been going to playdates with friends and to Searcy every once in a while to see her cousins. Now, when we spend time at home, she comes running in to me from her room telling me that she hears her friends out on the playground, and she needs to go see them. We don't have a playground, and at the time she says it, all the kids that live near us are probably in school. :) But she is convinced her friends are right outside. She will start naming them, too. She's very big into friends right now. Every one is a friend. We had a couple of men from our church over last night and they left when she was in her room. She came out and asked where our friends went. We went to the library yesterday, and there was a line of kids downstairs in the library. She saw them and said, "Look mama! My friends are here!" We didn't know a single kid. :)

Speaking of friends/cousins. She has several cousins close to her age, but they seem to form little cliques. Well, Anabelle has two boy cousins close to her in age. Malachi is six weeks older than she is, and Gideon is about 9 months younger. But these two boys adore her, and she definitely knows it. These two would follow her anywhere. It cracks me up how much they follow her. They are always trying to find her, and looking for her when we are outside. She is definitely the ring leader, and it is so funny to watch. Malachi will tell her to come on, and she will go in the opposite direction. Of course, he follows right behind! They are so cute together.

One more funny. She isn't use to being out in the country all the time, but she loves going to see her cousins out on the farm. Of course, the boys are always shirtless. So the other day, they were playing in the water/mud, and her pants got wet. Well, everyone else was losing clothing (shirts) due to them being wet, so she decided that she didn't need pants. Not only did she not need pants, but she took her diaper off too! I look up and see a naked white booty running across the yard! I asked her what she was doing, and she said, "I don't want to get my diaper wet!" She had gotten her pants wet and didn't want to ruin her diaper. If only that was a concern when she was peeing in her diaper! :) I finally got her to understand that she had to have some sort of covering on her booty. She didn't have to wear her diaper, but she had to have pants on her. Poor girl was tugging at her pants the rest of the day, because she didn't have the bulk of the diaper keeping her pants up. :)

Well, that's it for now. As you can see, Anabelle is a sweet mess. She's such a blessing to us, and we are so grateful to have such a sweet little girl whose full of life. We love you Bellie Boo!

So many people have told me that I need to write things down that my children do, so one day they can look back and read it. And so I don't forget what happens. So, this is going to be my new theme. Funnies/Precious moments by my kids. This post is for Anabelle. She is my funny, active, and sweet little 2 year old. I love the little person she is, even though she can try my patience some days. I think she is super smart, and can retain so much. Here are some of her latest that I can remember.

Ruby June was recently added to our family which has brought on several moments. The day she was born, Anabelle wouldn't even hardly come near me in that hospital bed. She finally gave me a hug and a kiss right before I had Ruby. That night as she went home with my mom, she was told that she would come back tomorrow and take me and Ruby home. Her response? No, I just want to take my mama home. The next day she came in ready to see me and hold little Ruby, thankfully. Still unsure of her, but loved holding a baby.

Ruby is now three and a half weeks old, and Anabelle has just now started calling her by her name. We first got home and she was baby. Then she went through all the other babies she knows right now. She called her Livia, Lila Mae, and baby Karis sometimes. One day she even called her "that". She told me to give that to Daddy and come with her. :) Now when we tell people that story, she tells them that Daddy told her Ruby June is not a that. She is Ruby June. Such a smart girl.

Speaking of smart. Her favorite thing to do these days, is to tell me how things actually are. She will ask what something is, say an animal. And when I tell her which animal it is, she will say, "It's actually a (fill in the blank)". She loves to tell me what they actually are, and what they are like. For example, and a remote control is like a phone. Or a kitty cat may be like a lion. She's very funny.

One of my favorite things to hear these days is her singing. She sings all the time. She sings with her shows, to her babies, in the car, and in church. Even if she doesn't know the song, she tries to make it up. I love hearing her putting her baby dolls to sleep by singing Jesus loves you and say a prayer to them. Her prayer is "Thank you for God, Amen." She knows every word to Jesus loves me and to Dreamin (the song her daddy sings to her at night). The other day I looked in the rear view mirror and she was singing along with my music in the car. They repeat the phrase "There's nothing we want more" over and over in the song. Well, she had picked up on it, and was singing along with it. She does the same thing in church. She will pick up on words in the songs and hum the whole time until the words she knows come back in the song.

These stories only scratch the surface of what my child does. These are more of the precious moments in life. Next will be some funnies. And do I have some funnies. Not sure if I mentioned how mischievous my child is also. Well, she is a very active and curious child. I have some great stories coming. I love you, Anabelle Grace, and cannot ask for a better first born child. You are a blessing.

Coming to the end of a chapter

We are coming to the end of our time as a family of 3! It doesn't seem that long ago, when we were bringing Anabelle home with us. I am now 35 weeks pregnant, and getting ready for this precious little one to arrive. Our little Anabelle is starting to grow up and is such a BIG girl these days.
We made the transition to a toddler bed on her birthday. She was very excited. Sorry about the nakedness in this picture. She does not like wearing clothes! :) I don't understand.

She turned two this year, and she let us know it. She is such a blessing and we couldn't be prouder of the sweet little girl she has become. We had a fun little party with some friends and her cousins.

Then later that night, we went to a trunk or treat at Nana and PapaD's church. She really liked just playing on the playground outside with all the kids.

Christmas was a blast this year. She really got into it, and loved the idea of Santa Claus. She really really wanted him to come to our house and hold her. :) That's her new thing. Everyone that comes over can hold her. Or at least, that is what she tells us. "And they will hold me, mama?" is what she says. SO sweet. She loves to be in someone's arms.

We were so glad that Nana, PapaD, and Aunt Ashlee came and spent Christmas Eve and Christmas day with us. It was so much fun, and Anabelle was so excited they came to see her presents!!

We have started the potty training process. She went to a big girl bed on her birthday, and now we are attempting this transition. So far, it's a little slow going. I hear about these moms who are able to do it in a day. Well, NOT this mom. :) We will get there, hopefully sooner than later, but she is just so so interested in it. Bribes with candy help. :)

We had our first snow this year already. Its been crazy weather, and it snowed!! Couldn't believe it. I was very skeptical, but it came, and came hard. As you can tell, Anabelle LOVED it.
She was very good at sliding on her own too. That was her favorite, I think. I only got her to come inside with the promise of hot chocolate, and snow cream. She loved eating the snow.

She also loves her daddy very much. They are big buds these days. She wakes up almost everyday asking about him, and where he went. She was so glad he was home to play in the snow with us. She couldn't believe she woke up to him still there and snow on the ground.

Well, I will end this with a couple more pictures. Just as a comparison from last pregnancy to this one. I didn't do as well last time taking preggy pictures, but I will show the latest I have in both pregnancies. Hopefully soon we will meet our little girl, and cannot wait for her arrival, and for her to have a name. :) Nope, still no name.

This is me with Anabelle at about 30-31 weeks along. This is the last picture I have of myself pregnant. She came about 7-8 weeks later.
This is me at 34 weeks with this little bundle. Who knows when she'll get here, but if she comes like Anabelle did, we only have a few weeks left.

And here is our precious Anabelle on the day we brought her home from the hospital. LOVE LOVE LOVE this little girl more than life itself. Cannot wait for what's in store in this next chapter of life.
